Who We Are

The Sweet and Savory Collective is Stella Jean’s Ice Cream and Pop Pie Co. We create pies, ice cream, coffee and treats worth shouting about. We proudly focus on high quality food, and high quality spaces for our SoCal community.

STELLA JEAN’S
ICE CREAM

Leveraging our sister company, Pop Pie Co., Stella Jean’s Ice Cream was born of the same philosophy – great food, celebrated with valued friends and neighbors. We aim to continue our tradition as a business that believes in a strong sense of community that includes employees, patrons and the cities we serve as a whole.

POP PIE CO.

Locally owned, the shop showcases the signature all butter crust by Executive Chef Gan Suebsarakham, with a rotating menu of sweet and savory pies made in-house daily. Pop Pie Co. pairs handheld (5”) savory pies with side dishes/salads that are made fresh daily and offers the two as a lunch combo or dinner meal. Breakfast pies, a variety of sweet pies, and refreshing beverages, including fresh locally roasted coffee round out the menu. Pop Pie Co. operates a multi-roaster coffee model, meaning patrons can expect a different coffee experience each time they walk through the door.

get to know us

In 2016, Pop Pie Co. was founded by Steven Torres and Gan Suebsarakham, two entrepreneurs whose diverse cultural backgrounds sparked a vision for revitalizing comfort food, particularly sweet and savory pies. In 2018, an exciting opportunity emerged to fulfill another culinary dream, and Stella Jean's Ice Cream was born.

Team

Gan Suebsarakham, a Thai Chef with an MBA from National University, pursued culinary arts locally at Grossmont College. His journey from Khon Kaen, Thailand, to establishing multiple culinary ventures in the U.S. exemplifies the pursuit of the American dream.

Steven Torres, originally from Calexico in the nearby Imperial Valley, holds degrees in accounting and business administration from Central Washington University. His career path transitioned from finance to restaurant ownership in San Diego, driven by a passion for coffee and a desire to blend his financial acumen with his love for food.

Together, Steven and Gan have built The Sweet & Savory Collective into a thriving restaurant group that celebrates both the American spirit and cultural diversity through their innovative pie and ice cream creations. Their combined expertise has not only shaped a successful business but also fostered a community centered around exceptional flavors, quality ingredients, and warm hospitality.
